Macro Plate is a nutritionist-designed and chef-curated meal prep subscription service. The company offers a variety of macronutrient-based plans, from paleo to vegetarian and beyond, custom-designed to help customers reach their health goals.

Their Challenge
Macro Plate stands apart from the competition by reducing the complexity put on the customer to select or order specific meals, instead using their preferences to tailor options to their specific needs.
The problem with offering such a bespoke service is the overreliance on manual processes to deliver personalized dishes. Macro Plate ran their business through Google Sheets, forcing the teams to work in silos with little communication between Delivery, Meal Assignment, and other departments. The process was manual, time-intensive, and inefficient.
Our Solution
Saritasa worked closely with Macro Plate to understand their current systems and challenges. From there, we built a custom software solution that replaced Google Sheets while maintaining flexibility. In doing so, we automated previously labor-intensive processes and increased internal communication.
Macro Plate works by offering a personalized onboard experience to customers when they sign up for a meal plan. Customer add preferences for different meal plan type, amount of meals per day, specific ingredients to avoid and more. All this information is collected via a form and stored in Macro Plate’s internal database.
Our Approach
What Saritasa Did
API Integration
The client had a pre-existing database which stored all their data, but needed a way to access the data without resorting to pulling information by hand every week, for each customer. We integrated into their database via the client’s API to pull relevant data for the reports.
Spreadsheet Replacement
Previously, everything from a customer’s preferences to that week’s meal schedule were tracked in Google Sheets. The system has thousand of different categories, ranging from cuisine ethnicity (Italian, Indian, etc) to ingredients to preparation type (grilled, fried, baked, etc). We built a user-friendly tool for the Macro Plate team to view and organize this data.
Process Automation
Reports are critical for running Macro Plate, for everything from packing meals, to delivering to the right customers, to preparing meal cards to display the customer’s weekly meals. All these reports were previously done manually, but the new backend automated the report generation, saving hours upon hours of time.
Multiple User Roles
The backend is used acrossed the entire Macro Plate organization by various teams. Each team type has a separate user role that determines the data they are able to access. Customer Service and Kitchen users have limited access, while the Administrators oversee the entire system.
