Dynojet Performance Tuning Mobile Apps
Overview
About DynoJet Research
Dynojet Research develops performance racing technology, including fuel tuners and diagnostic tools, for motorcyclists and racers worldwide. Founded by racers for racers, it has been committed to giving riders as much power and speed as possible since 1972.
Their Challenge
Dynojet built the Power Vision 4 to connect with a user’s mobile device and allow easy tuning to unlock a motorcycle’s full potential. Dynojet outsourced the mobile application development to a 3rd party developer and encountered multiple issues post-release. The application was buggy, with many difficult-to-reproduce errors, and built on a retiring framework. Unsatisfied, Dynojet sought a new development team.
Our Solution
Saritasa stepped in to redevelop the Power Vision mobile apps, increase performance stability, and expand functionality. Our team could not work with the existing legacy application and instead built the new applications from scratch. Because the engagement relied on existing hardware and firmware, we provided in-depth guidance to the client on the level of documentation needed to ensure a smooth integration.
Our Approach
What Saritasa Did
Mobile App Development
The previous mobile apps were built using Xamerian, which was sunsetted by Microsoft in May 2024. Our team redeveloped the mobile apps as native applications for both iOS and Android, using Swift and Kotlin respectively.
Hardware Integration
The Power Vision 4 allows riders to tune their bikes from their phones by plugging a physical device into their motorcycle. Our team worked with Dynojet’s existing hardware and firmware protocols to integrate with the new mobile apps.
Bluetooth Integration
The mobile app connected with the hardware using Bluetooth, enabling an easy setup for the customer. On the development side, the Bluetooth protocol connection required significant testing and troubleshooting to keep the connection stable and ongoing across both operating systems.
Customizable Analytics Dashboards
Users can create custom dashboards within the app to focus on the most important analytics. Data is sent from the hardware to the mobile app in real-time, allowing users to make informed decisions on the care and tuning of their bikes. Analytics include cooling temperatures, battery wattage, and more.
