Central Community College is a forward-focused educational institution committed to utilizing modern facilities and technologies to maximize student and community success. Its Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts program graduates are highly sought after by industry employers thanks to the high-quality education. CCC exposes potential students to its programs through college fairs at local high schools, and often campaigns with big-name universities. To stand out from the crowd, they wanted to come up with an interactive way to show off its state-of-the-art facilities.
Our Solution
CCC wanted to strike the right balance between an educational experience and an entertaining one. They also had a strict budget, provided through grant funding, to get it done. We worked closely with their team to brainstorm, design, and then build a realistic kitchen experience to attract potential culinary students. The result was a virtual reality tour of their state-of-the-art kitchen facilities and an interactive cooking challenge.
Our Approach
What Saritasa Did
Grant Proposal
The CCC team applied for a grant for the funding to build this immersive experience. They first reached out to us to get an idea of cost so they could request a realistic budget in their grant application. We provided them with a high-level budget, which helped them secure the necessary funding for the project. Once they received the grant funding, they reached back out to our team to start development.
3D Rendered Architectural Diagrams
CCC wanted the experience to be as realistic as possible, so they provided architectural diagrams, blueprints, and videos of the facilities. Our team re-created the existing floor plan in 3D to scale, including all the equipment. This gives potential students a real look at the school’s kitchen through a virtual guided tour.
Custom 3D Assets
The experience was made of both pre-fabricated and custom 3D assets. The goal was to make the virtual kitchen as close to its reallife counterpart as possible, which required some custom 3D design work.
Interactive Cooking Experience
In addition to the guided tour, we also implemented a fairly simple yet engaging cooking experience. Users are instructed on and get to practice how to make the perfect omelet, from cracking eggs to cook time to serving.
